YOUR dreaded Imperfections MAY have HEALTH Benefits

'It is shape that matters and where the fat gathers' says Dr Konstantinos Manolopoulos

I came across this article on Mail Online and it basically claims (with "scientific evidence') that the many imperfections and beauty marks that women complain about may have a purpose ...in other words, health benefits ....to the most extent positive benefits.
Some of the imperfections the article highlighted were:
  • Small Breast/ Flat Chest
  • Big Thighs (60 cm & over )
  • Big Hips
  • Big A$$
  • Short Legs
  • Big Nose
  • Big Ears
  • Moles
  • Etc, etc
Generally, there is GOOD news for those women who store fat in the lower half of their body, i.e SMALL BREAST w/ BIG THIGHS & BIG BUTT... however, it goes on the show that having the desired hourglass shape may bring more harm than good i.e, BIG BREAST & WIDE HIPS. If you are pear shaped rejoice because who knows, in the future this could be body shape that maybe considered as ideal due to the positive benefits associated ...who knows?!!
Some other highlights include:
  • If you must have a BIG lower body part, a big butt & big thighs apparently are 'healthier' than a big tummy or wide hips ...why...
  • Because fat stored in the tummy according to Dr David Haslam of the National obesity Forum is metabolically active.(contributes to insulin resistance) Whereas Dr Konstantinos Manolopoulos & a review of studies by Oxford University noted that the fat stored in the butt acts as a 'buffer' to trans fatty acids. (can you say reduce risk of hyperlipidemia etc)
  • A 12 year Denmark study of 3 000 persons concluded that big thighs (60 cm and over) can promote longevity & lower the risk of developing heart disease
  • Big/ wide hips have been linked with an increased in of estrogen storage. This could possibly  increase ones risk of developing breast cancer in hormone sensitive women (huh?!)
  • In simpler terms- some body fat storage promotes Obesity, Insulin Resistance etc whilst the others lowers your risk for developing such diseases.
Check out the article and its related sources for more info & remember nothing is cast in stone, except death.
